RECA INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 2024
The proposed period for the fourth edition of this internship program is the summer of 2024. The dates are flexible by mutual agreement between the supervisor and the student, but the research aims to be completed in a range of approximately 10 weeks between May and August 2024. Therefore, dedication of time and commitment to research by the student is expected during that period.

Unlike last year, this year WE DO NOT HAVE FUNDING for students, due to lack of sponsorship by other institutions.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
The research project assigned to each student will be a priority of this program. Nevertheless, there will be some additional activities to complement this research experience.
PYTHON BOOTCAMP
Students will have the opportunity to be mentored in learning Python basics that will be useful during internships.
OBSERVATION TIME
Students will have the opportunity to remotely monitor real-time observations made by professional telescopes around the world.
PROFESSIONAL TALKS
Weekly, students will receive virtual talks on specific astronomy topics given by world experts where emphasis will be placed on the path of the researcher.
SUPPORT
The members of the committee will be available to support students in conceptual doubts, programming or any other tool that facilitates the correct development of the research project.
PUBLICATION IN ASTROBITOS
The selected students will have the opportunity to publish the results of their research in the Astronomy Portal: ASTROBITOS
REQUIREMENTS
Student in the last two years of an undergraduate program in physics, astronomy or related areas.
If the student has already completed the undergraduate degree and has not started a master's degree, they are eligible to apply.
The student must reside in Colombia.
Have availability of time to carry out the research project during the months of May and August.
The student must have access to realible internet
PROJECTS 2024

I JUST STARTED A POSTGRADUATE MAY I APPLY?
No. You are ineligible.
I DO NOT STUDY IN COLOMBIA. MAY I APPLY?
I AM A STUDENT AT A COLOMBIAN INSTITUTION, BUT I AM NOT A COLOMBIAN CITIZEN. MAY I APPLY?
Yes!
DURING THE MONTHS OF THE PROGRAM, I HAVE TO STUDY OR WORK. MAY I APPLY?
In principle, our students must have full-time availability to work on their research project. However, you can apply as long as you justify how much time you can dedicate to the project
IS THERE ANY COST WITHIN THE PROGRAM?
None!
I AM NOT A STUDENT OF PHYSICS OR ASTRONOMY. MAY I APPLY?
Students of related careers in exact sciences (geology, chemistry, biology, mathematics, etc.), and engineering are welcome to apply.
HOW MUCH IS THE REMUNERATION PER STUDENT?
This year, we do not have the resources for a paid program. We seek that even without financial remuneration, students can access the experience of doing research in astronomy.
