MISSION AND VISION

Mission:
Teach astronomy in Colombia at all educational levels, with the support of RECA's professional astronomers. All resources we offer are free of charge for the benefit of school students and teachers.

Vision:

To be a support for schools in their educational challenges of astronomy and a reference for the new generations of all the regions of Colombia.

  • Work in cooperation with national and international groups to develop joint astronomy projects. For example, students joining remote observations with Shadow the Scientist.

OUR ACTIVITIES

A program that brings astronomy to rural areas in the country with the objective of inspiring and educating students with this science. Our BARCo kit comes with activities, games and resources built by professional astronomers for the teachers to use in the classroom.

A program that brings astronomy to rural areas in the country with the objective of inspiring and educating students with this science. Our BARCo kit comes with activities, games and resources built by professional astronomers for the teachers to use in the classroom. 

A program that brings together Colombian and Spanish astronomers to give virtual talks in schools all over the country. We aim to inspire students to make drawing relating astronomy and the Colombian culture and participate in a contest to win prizes.

Work together with teachers to generate enthusiasm about astronomy, develop observation projects with telescopes and workshops.

In partnership with Shadow the Scientists (StS), we connect groups of Colombian students so that they learn what a professional astronomical observation is all about. Students get the chance to observe remotely with some of the best observatories in the world.
